Why are teens wearing clothes with the tags still attached?

I work at a high school and have noticed African American kids are keeping the tags on their clothes and making sure the tags stick out for others to see. One tag I remember showed a shirt was for sale at JCPenney for $36.00. I have also seen many others, but don%26#039;t recall any specifics.

What is the deal? I don%26#039;t understand this trend. Someone please try to explain it to me before I start asking the kids if they would like me to cut the tags off their clothes since it looks like they forgot to do so.

Thank you!

Well I don%26#039;t know about tags on clothes, but I%26#039;ve seen them on hats which just means you just bought the hat and you%26#039;re not cheap also known as fresh. Also to show that the hat is new, not a hand-me-down. And to prove that it%26#039;s a certain expensive brand or something like that. =]
Reply:i have never seen that on a girl before. Maybe on a guy. They think its cool.
Reply:Hahaha wow thats not a trend. I don%26#039;t know why people do that though.
Reply:Maybe they are trying to be cool or rebellious, to show how much they paid for a shirt, and maybe they are planning on returning it after they wear it. Who knows....
Reply:i live in canarsie, brooklyn and its just a trend thing thats happening with african american people.

i honestly have no clue why. but its probably gunna go away. a couple of months ago it was the i love ny t shirts with jeans and multicolored matching nikes.

now apparently its wearing articles of clothing with the tags still on them.

i havent seen that yet though, but ive seen a lot of people wearing sneakers with the tags on them.

which appalls me but hey whatever floats their boat right?
Reply:ok never seen that EVER unless they forgot and if they haven%26#039;t then they%26#039;re just retarded cause thats not even cute
Reply:they forgot 2.
Reply:wow, I%26#039;ve never heard of that %26quot;trend%26quot; before. A lot of the guys at my school leave the gold stickers that come on their hats on them. but I%26#039;ve never heard of clothing tags
