How do Veterans feel about Dog tags as fashion accesories?

Knowing that they were created to help identify dead and wounded soldiers who fought hard and risked their lives for their country. How do you feel when you see regular non-military men and women wearing them, just so they can be cool.

I have my grandfather%26#039;s from World War II, and I hate it when I see people that have never served wearing them. I think it%26#039;s disrespectful to those that earned their dog tags.

I want to know what Veterans think.

How do Veterans feel about Dog tags as fashion accesories?
It is a little silly to see them on some folks... but I have no problem with someone wearing a loved-ones%26#039; tags.

I also don%26#039;t mind seeing a girl or guy wearing a surplus pea-coat (stripped of rank)... but I want to put a freekin bullet in rappers or Michael Jackson when I see them prancing about in salvaged uniforms and MEDALS !!

I still wear my Flight Jacket every once and awhile... and gave MY old pea-coat to my wife.
Reply:I think it%26#039;s ridiculous, these kids don%26#039;t even know what these are for...! They%26#039;re to identify bodies when killed in combat. I keep mine in a drawer and I will never wear them again as I made it through, but truth be told is that is doesn%26#039;t bother me that bad. I think there was a phase when camaflouge was coming into style as well, I even seen a Famous Rapper wearing a Marine Dress Blue Jacket with Enlisted Insignia on it. I guess that is their way of supporting the troops.

Who know%26#039;s, but to answer your question I could see were someone could be offended but I really don%26#039;t care myself as long as they don%26#039;t disrespect the military.
Reply:That%26#039;s been happening for years. I wore my dad%26#039;s dogtags when I was in middle school, now I have my own set to wear.

I think that it may be a way to honor the veterans.

_I_ have problems with draft dodgers like WJClinton becoming CIC and standing on the deck of one of MY ships and claiming to be...

never mind, that%26#039;s another rant.

Nothing wrong in wearing dog tags...
Reply:Wearing dog tags that belonged to a lost friend or family member is respectable in my book...

But when i see these snotty little teenagers in their AE or Abercrombie camo, with silver dog tags- I honestly want to walk up and choke them. I mean seriously; Dog Tags aren%26#039;t meant to be cool. They%26#039;re a way of identifying bodies and wearing some that were bought in a dept. store is just plain insulting to those of us who have had to lace one in our boots.
Reply:I have no prob with it. As a former paratrooper in the 101st. I think of it as an honer to all the troops who wear theirs.
Reply:I think it is kind of silly - but otherwise don%26#039;t really care.
Reply:I don%26#039;t know about Veterans, but I occasionally wear my father%26#039;s dog tags to honor him and his service to our country. Kinda wish I had my great-uncles, too....he died in WWII.
Reply:Guess us vets were way ahead of the game as fashion goes.

I think be cool if they did have information like blood type and contact information they do get hurt. It would make emergency medical personal%26#039;s job a lot easier.

What does bother me is seeing the bikers with German WWII helmets.
